The Neuro Lymphatic System & Yoga
The lymphatic system is a critical part of the immune system and because it doesn’t have a heart pump like the blood system, it relies upon movement to keep it healthy.
The human body is a complex network of systems working together to maintain overall health and well-being. One system that often goes unnoticed is the lymphatic system. While it may not receive as much attention as the cardiovascular or respiratory systems, the lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy immune system because it’ acts as the deep filtering and drainage system of the body. During the pandemic, I created specific self care around my lymphatic system which helped me to recover after I got sick. Click here for a sneaky peek. Or scroll down the page to the discount link.
Within the lymphatic system are specific reflex points that are know as neuro lymphatic reflexes. They are located throughout the body and correspond to different organs and the energy system. When these points are stimulated they open the valves of the lymphatic system allowing it to immediately flush which helps the body to detoxify. When you learn how to stimulate these points you will be amazed by how awake and alert you feel.
Three Main Functions of the Lymphatic System:
- Immune Defense:
- Fluid Balance:
- Absorption of Fats:
Yoga & The Lymphatic System
Yoga combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation and offers numerous benefits for the lymphatic system. Here’s why yoga is beneficial for maintaining a healthy lymph
- Movement and Stretching: Yoga poses stimulate the lymphatic system and help increase lymph flow, allowing toxins to be eliminated.
- Deep Breathing: Diaphragmatic breathing enhances oxygenation and circulation, which also helps remove toxins from the body.
- Stress Reduction: Chronic stress can impair lymphatic function.
Tips to Keep Your Lymph Moving:
- Practice Yoga: Focus on poses that involve twisting, inversions, and deep breathing exercises to stimulate circulation.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking an adequate amount of water helps maintain lymph fluid volume.
- Exercise Regularly: Movement helps prevent lymph stagnation.
- Dry Brushing: Use a natural bristle brush to gently brush your skin in circular motions.
- Eat a Balanced Diet: Consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to provide essential nutrients. Avoid processed foods and excessive salt intake, as they can contribute to lymphatic congestion.
- Hot / Cold Water Therapy: Stimulating the body this way invigorates the whole system.
